How did i get started?

As the world began to slow and shut down at the beginning of the pandemic, I was sitting at my desk listening to a dragging zoom lecture finishing my degree in Political Science. Well, to be honest, my degree was finishing me. I dreaded waking up and sauntering over to my desk chair to get to class. I would stare at every assignment, both big and small, as if they would magically complete themselves. I was so uninspired, so bleh.

Ever since I could remember, I knew just waking up and going to school was not enough for me. I had a strong desire to learn more, be entrusted with more, just do and BE more. I was constantly tapping into something beyond my current environment. Loving problem-solving and creativity, I constantly found myself secretly leveraging those passions to actualize other people’s dreams, helping in any way I could. Whether designing marketing materials, helping a student get into college, or creating a workflow for a business to maximize efficiency there was a rush and sense of excitement inside as I helped bring something to fruition. I knew that fire inside was not translating to the outside world effectively because all I was known as was the future lawyer. I felt like two different people operating separately - Salima with the static reality and Salima with the seemingly unattainable dream.
